I think its day 8 now... Sorry I haven't posted for a few days but I will show you what I have been up to since day 5!  It is now 6 x 6 squares and I am getting excited! This is the furthest I have ever come with a large-scale project like this! :D

Well, day 4... I'm running out of things to say except, when making something large, always buy the wool in bulk first; you'd never have guessed, but white comes in all different colours, and it doesn't look too great when they are jumbled... take it from experience!

New Project Progress: Day 3

Well, it is day 3 and I now have 16 squares! progress!! :D It is getting too big to work on at my desk though, so I don't know where to crochet anymore, my laptop will overheat on my bed and its always cold downstairs... decisions, decisions...

PS:  I have found, that when joining, slipstitch creates a firmer, less holey join than double crochet (single crochet in the US); read the pattern to understand if you haven't already.

New Project Progress: Day 2

Well, it is officially day 2 of my new project, and I am, honestly, quite proud of myself! Here's how far I've got ->

I worked out the finished size and it will be 15 x 15 squares; I don't dare multiply that out or I know it will only depress me! Anyway, if I can do 7 1/2 squares in one day, then I can do 15 x 15 eventually!! I just need to keep motivated!

New Project Progress: Intro.

Ok, so I have realised the sheer extent of my crocheting posts, and it is the Easter Hols (!) - plenty of time to start a new project! This so happens to be a granny square blanket, with the square pattern taken from: http://theroyalsisters.blogspot.com/2010/04/grandma-all-square-tutorial.html

I will motivate myself to finish (something I never do - I have only succeeded with those gloves and a teddy bear I made when I was 9ish) by posting progress by the day (or close enough!); this way, if I completely lose faith, I can look back over my progress and think, right, I can do this! and then I will have a warm cosy winter with my new blanket!

Over the next three weeks or so (2 weeks holiday, plus the gazillion bank holidays due to Easter and the Royal wedding) I will be succeeding at finishing an afghan! Wish me luck!

Random Nothingness...

I haven't posted here for ages, and I apologise for forgetting to post the chart update last Sunday (which is now sorted; I remembered on the bus ride home today!), however, I have no news to tell you! so this really is a nothing post, but its for the purpose of making sure you know my blog has not been abandoned - at least by me... you people seem to have a severe aversion to commenting, which is a downer, I feel as though I'm talking to myself! (I kind of am though...)

The only new thing is, I have recently discovered an obsession with One Tree Hill; I'm so far 4 episodes away from finishing the first season... Don't mock me! I like it, its good (and quite funny, considering it is from 2003... oh the memories... :D). Anyone any comments? of course not... you can make fun if you'd like; most people do for various reasons... (harmlessly, of course)

Anyway! There is one unnecessary post for you! I also need to do a 'slam', but I have no-one to 'slam' (well I do, but that would involve explaining family situations, which is just too damn complicated to put into words... so I won't bother!)

Little Computer Tip! :)

I haven't posted for almost two weeks now, so sorry about that, but life, for once, has been manic! Waaaay more to do in the day than there is hours to do it in, which doesn't work out so great, I am exceedingly tired due to lack of decent sleeping hours.

Also, the past two weeks I have updated the charts later than I have said I will - but they do go up every Sunday, I promise you! 

I also realised, the list is getting pretty long now (it's March already!), so thought I wouls give you a tip! When on the UK Charts 2011 page; press F3 on your keyboard, allowing you to search the page. you can then type in the month you want to view rather than scrolling down to find it and it will show you where this is (this works in Explorer and Chrome, unsure about other browsers)!

Pancake Day! :P

Some may call it Shrove Tuesday, but thats not the day - its PANCAKE DAY! A day when we all stuff our faces with pancakes, only to regret it later (while continuing to eat more). 

I don't even remember to bible story behind Lent or anything related - I just know of pancakes, easter and Cadbury's creme eggs! (the best things ever!!) You may have guessed; I'm a slight pig. 

I won't turn this post into a why-I-hate-religion rant, because that would just be long and pretty boring/offensive. However, by saying I hate religion, I mean that I am not religious and it generally annoys me - I do, however, still respect those who are religious; that's their beliefs and I'm not going to say what they should/should not agree with or believe in, just as I don't listen to those who say that atheists are just kidding themselves or are uneducated and the like. I can tell you I am very well educated and I am not kidding myself - so that is a load of rubbish!

A Revelation!

Hey people! I just realised that saying this whole blog is random and cool renders it the absolute opposite of that, so well done me. You people are supposed to sit there and think 'this is so random... haha' and I am supposed to keep the fact that that is intentional schtum. Therefore, I need to find new things to say on almost every page of this bloggy thing, joyful times. Oh well, I am bored after all!

Crochet Fingerless Gloves!

OK, I admit it, I have a small passion for crafts and in particular, crochet, however I never have the time with schoolwork and everything else, but, seeing as it is half term I have got back into crochet and made these:

Fingerless gloves! Sorry about the picture, it is difficult to take a picture of both of your hands at the same time. (had to kind of eat my webcam instead... not fun or pretty). However, I am very proud of this work (they only took me around half a day to finish!) and this is the only crochet project I have ever finished! WOW.


I found the pattern here and thanks to ChristieP@2 for submitting this pattern, I love my new gloves! They are an amazing replacement to the one out of a pair which I lost a few weeks ago. I also have a tiny obsession with fingerless gloves... call me weird!

Well, it is now official, the above header is my new 'logo' for Randomo's Random Blog. You see this, you know its me! (it is my new twitter pic and background too.). I am moving away from Purple Paris and going for pink/blue full blown randomness. however, I am not finished. Watch this space for even MORE making over. :D

Ugh! D: Valentine's Day!

     Well, it's another February 14th and we all know what that means - Valentine's Day(!), or for some, the day when we get depressed about being once again... single. For me, I have never had a non-single Valentine's Day so it shouldn't matter, but it is the time of year when you 'aww' at everyone's red and pink heart shaped chocolates, roses and anything else they've been given by loved ones. Never in my life have I been someone's 'Valentine' and never have I had one (not that I very much understand this term...).

     Who here is particularly depressed this Day of St. Valentine. Has anyone had the best present - dumping by text or that kind of thing you see in movies, when teenage girls (or full-grown adults you just can't help but laugh at) cry over 'happy valentine's! its over' sort of texts/cards/notes on flowers etcetera?  Got some funny stories? got some stories you might cry over, but some may laugh at (come on, you will too in a couple of years...)? Or even a story that is so damn funny you laughed when you were told it by your best friend - the victim? SHARE! we all love to find joy in others' misery - that is how we humans are the pinnacle of the animal kingdom - we're lovely beings really! (sensing sarcasm? it's appropriate.)

    So, on this day of joy and love and all those gooey mushy feelings, why not take a moment to think about those less fortunate, those who, on this day, are possibly suicidal, and those who have been the victims of these movie-like scenarios we all hate to love (or love to hate, not suite sure...)

    PAH! Who am I kidding? There are surely much more worthy things to think about; those idiots who chose to follow the footsteps of the movie 'heartthrobs' and those who lie in bed crying with joy over a rose they've been given are nothing. They simply choose to wallow in the sheer money-making aspect of this occasion. It is a publicity thing in which companies take money from those stupid enough to take the bait - I'm not going to lie, if I actually had someone to pointlessly spend this money on, then I probably would, otherwise, what am I? Some kind of Valentine's Day Scrooge. That's just not a good title. Point blank stupid.

    The moral? Spend that money if you can, be 'happy' (you might just be one of those depressed next year...) - but if you are one of those who are clinically depressed from the holiday, don't be so selfish - maybe take a moment to think of those who actually lost their loved ones, like, literally, for example soldiers fighting for their country. Gone. Think a bit more openly once in a while, and don't be fed up because other's have relationships over the point of friendship.

    It just ain't worth it.

Movie: Black Swan! :/

Last weekend, I went to the cinema to see Black Swan with my friends - its really good (as it should be with the number of awards its won!). However, very disturbing/slightly (understatement) graphic too though - I do recommend it although do not watch it with parents or younger siblings - I say this as a very non-squeamish person. Just don't.

I actually found it very different to how I imagined - not that I imagined much, I had no idea what it was about, but it is worth the watch as long as you don't mind sexually graphic scenes (both homosexual and heterosexual sex there), and blood (lots of blood, including self-harm) - basically, if you get easily grossed out, stay well away :P

SLAM! Chris Brown :/

My first slam is on Chris Brown who I personally hate, because of what he did to Rihanna (it is, however, annoying that he makes good music...). Don't you just love how, in his new video, for yeah 3x, it features children who are like 'Yay Chris Brown! you are not an evil girlfriend beater at all! we all love you!', isn't a bit obvious that he is trying to win back people's hearts with the young children screaming his name? He does annoy me like that. oh well. I think I might 'slam' on maybe a weekly basis - purely for the ranting pleasure :) Is slam a good thing to call it?

Personally, despite my severe dislike for Chris Brown, I love chipmunk's new song featuring Chris: Champion. Shame I hate him huh?

Le Français!

Today, I recieved details of the person who I will be hosting/staying with when i go on a French Exchange later this year! So excited! I have a love of french, I just can't explain it...  Ahhh... le français... :) Oui, je t'aime, le français! :D

I have got quite a way through Jane Eyre! Honestly, I am shocked, some attention span there, although, once I got into it I was actually pleasantly surprised. It's really good! I only read it 'cause I bought it and didnt really want it to be a waste of money, it turns out, it really isn't. What do you think?

School... Joyful Time

D: Why do Mondays have to be so boring?!  never in my life have I had a more tiring Monday (purely because I have been sat doing nothing), and, well, every Monday is this boring, due to the amazing genius (sense the sarcasm there people!...) who created the school's timetables, but I just wish Monday wouldn't exist, then again, then we would all hate Tuesdays. How unfair! O the joy of being a teenager who goes to school... I personally love the sound of drone. It is the highlight of my days. What's the worst thing about Mondays for you? I keep asking these questions here, and yet no one comments and answers them... never mind, I am sure one lovely person will. :D
